The significant events in the story of Wong Ming-Chung are Wong's uncle wants to go over to America to look for gold and Wong's parents are forbidding him because they say they do not have enough money to afford the trip. Another significant event in the story is when Wong's uncle asks for Wong's brother to help him in America and his parents refuse and instead send Wong who is the weaker of the two brothers, and also younger. Then Wong takes a boat to America and meets up with his uncle to help his uncle mine gold.

In "Number The Stars" by Lois Lowry, there were many historical events that took place. One of these events was World War I and World War II. Since these Wars were taking place around the time that the characters in my book were living, many other historical things happened too. For example, the German soldiers were stationed in countries all over that they had taken over. The soldiers were limiting things that the citizens of these countries could do. The characters in my book lived in Denmark. Here, the soldiers were capturing Jewish people, telling the citizens what type of food they can eat, and running some of the personal businesses that were in the country. The Germans did many similar things in other countries they had control over.

In the book "The Voyage On The Great Titanic" by Ellen Emerson White, there are not many signaficnt events, but the few that are there are very life changing and sad. One historical event that happened in my book is the titanic sinking. This is a significant event because the titanic only had so little life boats and life jackets on board. So the the woman and children went first. But the water was so cold that if you were in there more then about 30 minutes to an hour you could die! This is also life changing because alot of lives were lost that night!

In "Mine Eyes Have Seen", most of the book so far is background detail about where the book takes place - Northern United States - and about Annie Brown's family. I just got to a place where Annie's mother recieves a letter from her father that went from Kansas to Maryland. Her father, currently in Maryland, bought the Kennedy Farm to hide slaves and wants his family to come to Maryland so the farm looks normal and no one will get suspicious.

"If I Should Die Before I Wake" happens during War World II. Obviously, this was when The Holocaust was happening. Most children where either living in misery, killed , or "becoming a Nazi". Well, my character (Hilary) thinks she has become a Nazi, that is until she met Chana. Well they didn't really meet but Hilary dreamt about her when she was in a coma. See, Chana is Jewish and thats not a good thing because the Germans are coming to take them away, they think.
