Since the girl in my story Sarah is 18 yrs old, she must find a husband soon b/c it is not very common for a girl her age to not have a husband at her age so that is one of the reasons she is going to North Carolina.

In this book which takes place in 1912, when people met eachother, they would usually go for tea, and have sandwiches. This book is about a girl who is going to the united states from england on the titanic and whenever she went to meet the lady who she would be going to england with, and when she went back to visit, they had tea. It also talked about other times when they went for tea. It seems like a custom to have tea whenever you are socialising with other people. Today, most people don't have tea when they are talking. Sometimes they do, but it is not as often as in the book. I dont know if it originated during that time period, but tea was very important back then.

Sarah`s parents are very old for having a daughter their age so they keep sending her off to many different places like to virginia, maryland and North carolina so that she would find a husband. Her older siblings take care of her and make her work really hard. She just graduated from highschool and she is very educated all she needs is to find a good, rich husband in order for her family to stop buggin her.

In this book which takes place in 1466, it was a tradition for girls over the age of 16 to get married. The girl in this book is soon to be 16 and still needs a husband, her brother ( The King ) is trying to marry her off to a 32 year old man, there was nothing wrong with that way back then. It was a tradition for Royals to marry Royals and non-royals to marry non-royals. Today, it is illegal for a minor to marry an adult at the age of 32.

My book "look to the hills", took place in 1763 and this was a time of slavery. If this book was more recient this wouldn’t have happened because there aren’t slaves anymore in England or America. We don’t have these customs anymore.

this book takes place in 1942.by now independance day had been officially made into a holiday. this is significant to the plot of the story because in the book german agents that are working undercover in maine choose to carry out their job on july forth after the independance day celebration which brings the climax of the story in and wraps the whole story together.

My book: ANASTASIA THE LAST GRAND DUCHESS mentions many customs the imperial family of Russia completes. For example, at certain times each year they have a great fast. They also have another custom called butterweek. It starts on the 25TH of January. During this week Russians eat lots of blini drenched in butter. Blini is the Russian version of a pancake. Normally on Christmas Day the imperial family goes out in a parade to see the people but due to the war they don't do that this year.

My book "A Day No Pigs Would Die" has characters with very strict customs too. My characters are 'Shakers' a very religious group. According to Shaker Law they are to have no 'frills' (Any luxury or item you can easily live without. Like toys, expensive store bought clothes, candy, ect.).

My book is taking place in the 1860's and it’s about a girl named Eulinda who lives in the south. The custom is that the southern plantation owners would own slaves to grow their crops and since Eulinda isn't white she is a house slave. These customs and traditions aren't practiced today because the North won in the Civil War and Lincoln abolished slavery. These customs originated earlier than the 1860's.
